The UK Planning Inspectorate has granted development consent for the Steeple Renewables Project in Nottinghamshire. The scheme includes around 450MW of solar generation capacity and around 150MW of battery energy storage, and it was examined under the Planning Act 2008. The decision was made by Baroness Curran on behalf of the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. The application from Steeple Solar Farm Limited was submitted in May 2025 and accepted for examination in June 2025. The six month examination included evidence from local communities, statutory consultees, and interested parties, and the Planning Inspectorate completed it within the statutory timescale. This is the 115th energy application examined out of 183 to date. Public documents, including the recommendation and evidence, are available on the National Infrastructure Planning project pages. The consent adds to the UK's pipeline of large scale solar and storage projects, supporting grid decarbonization and renewable energy deployment.
