Exactly. Without a clear carbon price or specific hydrogen subsidy, there is little incentive to actually make the switch. The hydrogen ready label is a great hedge for the developer, but it does not guarantee a low carbon outcome unless the policy framework forces the transition.

The 1.5 million homes figure is a broad estimate. I am more interested in how this affects local industrial heat options in Thurrock. If they can eventually use that hydrogen for nearby factories instead of just electricity, the efficiency gains would be much higher.
