Star Charge's CTO, Di Wang, outlined the company's push into AI-managed distributed energy at the 2026 Inclusion·The Bund Conference. The strategy centers on using AI to monitor and control complex energy flows across microgrids, smart charging hubs, and virtual power plant integrations, with goals tied to full electrification, lower carbon intensity, and energy equity. Star Charge says it has deployed more than 300 microgrid projects globally across industrial sites, solar-storage-charging hubs, and residential communities. The company appears to be shifting from hardware-focused EV charging toward software and data-driven energy management, which could support recurring revenue and stronger margins if the deployments perform well. The practical question is whether Star Charge can show measurable results in reliability, cost, and emissions per project. If it can, the move aligns with policy trends favoring distributed low-carbon infrastructure and could help win utility and industrial partnerships in grid modernization.
