Stanbic Bank has invested 100,000 USD into a reforestation program in Zimbabwe's Hurungwe District. The initiative aims to plant 40,000 indigenous trees over three years, supporting 40 smallholder farmers and restoring local biodiversity. The project focuses on long term survival rates with a 36 month monitoring period. Organizers are also exploring the development of carbon credits to create sustainable income streams for rural households through carbon sequestration.
