Srinagar Upgrades Water Treatment with New Activated Carbon Plant
thekashmirhorizon.comSrinagar is implementing a 7 MGD Activated Carbon Chamber at the Nishat Water Treatment Plant to improve drinking water quality for 6.5 lakh residents. The project uses Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) technology to remove organic impurities, odors, and discoloration from raw water sourced from Dachigam Nallah. This infrastructure upgrade is part of the AMRUT 2.0 initiative, moving the city toward a multi-barrier advanced treatment system. The project aims to stabilize water quality across different seasons and address scarcity in tail-end habitations through additional supply schemes.
