Speira launches VALIS label for verified low-carbon aluminium with CO2 threshold under 4 tonnes per tonne
alcircle.comSpeira has introduced a new carbon performance label called VALIS for its aluminium products. The label sets a verified CO2 threshold of less than 4 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per tonne of aluminium. Each product carrying the label comes with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) independently verified by the Tetis Institute under ISO 14025:2006. This covers Speira's cold-rolled, hot-rolled, and coated products used in transport, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, and architecture. The EPDs follow a cradle-to-gate approach and account for primary metal, internal and external scrap, and alloy surcharges. For the construction sector, these declarations support green building certifications like BREEAM, LEED, and DGNB. The label aims to reduce internal validation effort for buyers while providing a documented basis for ESG reporting and customer requirements.
