South Korea's Top 1000 Firms Add Energy, Robotics and AI to Business Plans, Renewables Lead
chosun.comAn FKI analysis of South Korea's top 1000 listed firms by assets found that energy was the most common new business area added to corporate articles of incorporation this year, at 31.1%. New and renewable energy specifically made up 18.9% of all new business items, followed by robotics at 11.3% and software applications and cybersecurity at 8.5%. The federation links the shift to government carbon policies, including the 2035 National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target and the RE100 industrial complex plan. Larger firms are entering a wider range of sectors, including software and services, while smaller companies are more concentrated in hardware-focused areas like renewables and robotics. The numbers reflect stated intent rather than committed projects. Still, the pattern shows that energy transition and automation are now mainstream corporate strategy in South Korea's largest listed companies.
