South Korea has announced K-GX, a 1,000 trillion won ($747 billion) plan running from 2026 to 2035 to cut industrial emissions and expand clean energy. The strategy targets steel, petrochemicals, cement, semiconductors, and oil refining, with support for hydrogen steelmaking, renewable power, electric vehicles, and grid upgrades. The plan aims for 100 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and electric or hydrogen vehicles at 70% of new sales by 2035. It combines public budgets, policy-backed climate finance, and 220 trillion won in expected private investment. Actual delivery depends on project approvals, grid interconnection, and whether technologies like hydrogen steel can scale.
