South Korea is investing 73 million USD to help small and medium enterprises reduce carbon emissions in the steel and aluminium sectors. The initiative focuses on replacing combustion fuels, lowering power consumption, and improving raw material reuse to maintain export competitiveness. The program is a direct response to the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which imposes costs on carbon-heavy imports. Selected projects will receive funding for research, on-site demonstrations, and emissions verification through 2030.
