South Korea is launching a national research initiative to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using organic waste like coffee grounds and animal fats. The government plans to invest 48.7 billion won by 2030 to diversify feedstock and reduce reliance on used cooking oil. The program includes building pretreatment facilities to process 30 tons of waste per day and creating a digital tracking system to verify carbon footprints. This move aims to help the aviation industry meet tightening global carbon emission standards.
