Researchers at the University of Seoul are developing AI robotic arm technology to build large span timber structures. The project focuses on creating complex joints and curved elements for buildings like exhibition halls and gymnasiums, reducing reliance on carbon intensive materials. This national initiative aims to support South Korea's 2050 carbon neutrality goal by increasing the use of domestic timber in construction. The research consortium will work through 2030 to move these precision processing technologies from prototypes to industrial application.
