South Gyeongsang Province invests W6b in geothermal greenhouse complex to cut farming energy costs

South Gyeongsang Province will spend 6 billion won ($4.48 million) on a low-carbon shared energy facility for greenhouse farmers in Geochang County. The project won 4.2 billion won in central government funding through a national agriculture ministry grant competition. The plan includes drilling 273 geothermal boreholes across a 4-hectare site between 2027 and 2028 to supply heating and cooling to 2.8 hectares of strawberry cultivation and 1.2 hectares of tomatoes.
