A recent survey of venture capitalists and developers in South Africa reveals a strong preference for carbon capture and storage (CCS), with 93% of respondents backing the technology. While CCS currently dominates, investors are beginning to diversify into low carbon hydrogen, nuclear fission, and solar power. The data also highlights a heavy reliance on carbon credit eligibility as a core feature for new technologies. However, investors cite high compliance costs and scaling difficulties as primary barriers to further deployment in the region.
