South Africa Signs R22 Billion LNG Terminal Agreement for Port of Ngqura
greenbuildingafrica.co.zaTransnet National Ports Authority and Ukwanda LNG have signed a 25 year agreement to build a liquefied natural gas facility at the Port of Ngqura. The project involves a R2 billion dedicated berth and onshore regasification infrastructure to support the Coega Special Economic Zone. The terminal aims to enable up to 3,500 MW of gas to power capacity, providing a lower carbon baseload for industrial users and independent power producers. Full operational status is expected by 2035, with a floating LNG unit serving as an interim solution.
