201 tonnes is the claim but what is the basis? Rooftop solar on schools in the UK typically has a capacity factor around 10-11%. At 2,500 panels, assuming 400W each, that is 1 MW peak. So maybe 900 MWh a year. 201 tonnes CO2 implies around 0.22 kg per kWh. That is a bit low for UK grid mix. Could be using a specific displacement factor.

If the goal is to scale this model, the key question is whether the match funding came from the schools themselves or external sources. Schools are cash strapped. 250 panels per school on average. That is about 100 kW per site. For a typical primary school that could cover maybe a third of daytime load. Not bad for a first step. But the real savings come when you pair it with battery storage and smart controls. Otherwise you are exporting at low rates and buying at high rates after dark.
