The Soil Health Institute has released the Drought Resilience Calculator, a science based tool that helps growers and advisors model how regenerative practices affect water availability. The tool uses historical weather data to show how increasing soil organic carbon and residue cover can reduce crop stress during dry periods. Developed with support from Cargill, the calculator compares conventional farming with soil health management to quantify changes in evaporation and plant available water. This data allows farmers to make informed decisions to stabilize yields in water limited regions.
