Soar, a flight booking platform, added a checkout feature called Soar Green that lets passengers fund tree planting offsets when they buy a ticket. The platform calculates route emissions and suggests a micro-donation, usually between $2 and $20. Donations go to Trees for the Future, an agroforestry nonprofit, at a stated price of $0.75 per tree. The feature is live for all users on the final booking screen. Soar says the plantings are meant to capture the equivalent carbon over the trees' lifespan. The press release does not name a carbon registry or verification standard, so buyers may want to check how the offset claims are validated before treating the donation as a certified credit.
