Soanes Poultry invests £2.5m in F-gas-free refrigeration to cut carbon emissions by 492 tonnes
gazetteherald.co.ukSoanes Poultry, a Yorkshire chicken producer, has spent £2.5 million on a new industrial refrigeration plant built by Zudek International. The system eliminates F-gases, integrates a heat pump for site heating, and is expected to cut annual carbon emissions by around 492 tonnes of CO2. The company says it will reduce reliance on fossil-fuel heating by 95 percent. The project replaces multiple independent refrigeration units with a coordinated site-wide system that recovers waste heat. Soanes already uses a 1,648-module solar array, biomass boilers, and wind turbines. The investment is a concrete example of how industrial food facilities can combine efficiency upgrades with on-site renewables to lower their carbon footprint.
