Snow Brand Milk and Alltech Japan partner to cut dairy farm emissions in Hokkaido using E-CO2 tool
jp.ibtimes.comSnow Brand Milk Products has signed a cooperation agreement with Alltech Japan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from dairy farms in Hokkaido. The partnership will use Alltech's E-CO2 environmental assessment tool, which follows International Dairy Federation carbon footprint guidelines, to measure and lower emissions while maintaining milk production productivity. The demonstration research will take place at a dairy farm in Hokkaido, Japan's largest milk producing region, and aims to build a regenerative dairy and agriculture model. The agreement pairs Snow Brand Milk's Dairy Research Institute with Alltech Japan, a unit of the U.S. based animal nutrition group. The E-CO2 tool will quantify environmental footprints at dairy farms, fields, and grassland. Based on the results, the companies will explore sustainable dairy management methods that cut greenhouse gas and carbon emissions without sacrificing output. This initiative supports Snow Brand Milk's group materiality goals around sustainable dairy farming and environmental impact reduction, and reflects broader efforts by Japanese food producers to align with decarbonization targets.
