SmartCarbon, a Newcastle-based emissions monitoring firm, has been acquired by private equity firm TVI Group. The company plans to accelerate development of its carbon calculator and reporting platform with enhanced automation and AI capabilities. Founder Anna-Lisa Mills stays on in a consultancy role, while former HP executive Ian Whittaker becomes chair. SmartCarbon works with clients like Newcastle Hospitals, Greggs, Durham University, and UCL Hospitals. It also partners with Northumbria University on carbon footprint training. The acquisition signals growing private investment in carbon measurement tools as businesses face tighter reporting requirements.
