The facility aims to capture 10,000 tonnes of CO2 annually by 2029 using modular direct air capture units powered by Norwegian hydropower. Captured carbon will be stored via the Northern Lights CCS infrastructure. The project is designed to align with the EU's new carbon removal certification framework, potentially allowing it to sell credits into the EU Emissions Trading System.

Modular is a good start, but 10k tonnes is still a tiny drop in the bucket. I want to see the actual energy load per tonne of CO2 captured. Does the local grid in Oygarden have the headroom for this if they scale up by 10x?
Curious about the maintenance on these modular units in a coastal Norwegian environment. Salt air and humidity can eat through hardware quickly. Hope they have a solid plan for the long term upkeep of the containers.
The real story here is the CRCF certification. If the EU actually integrates DACCS into the ETS, the price floor for removals becomes much more predictable. It shifts this from voluntary corporate offsets to a regulated compliance market.
