Siplec E.Leclerc partners with Vivescia and Roquette to produce low-carbon ethanol in France

French energy supplier Siplec E.Leclerc has signed a three year partnership with agricultural cooperative Vivescia and ingredient producer Roquette to build a low-carbon ethanol supply chain entirely within France. Vivescia will supply wheat grown under regenerative agriculture practices over five to seven year cycles. Roquette will process the grain at its Beinheim plant using biomass, geothermal energy, and CO2 capture. Siplec will then distribute the ethanol through its network of about 734 service stations, blending it into SP95-E5, SP95-E10, and E85 fuels. The deal aims to create a fully traceable domestic fuel supply where each liter sold is backed by verified agricultural practices. Michel-Edouard Leclerc said the goal is to make the transition pay for those who produce it and stay affordable for consumers. The partnership runs for three years and covers the entire chain from field to pump. It is a concrete example of a retailer using its purchasing power to drive low-carbon fuel production at scale.
