Sinopec has started operations on a new large-tow carbon fiber production line in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. The facility features a single-line capacity exceeding 3,000 tonnes, focusing on high-output, lower-cost fibers with more than 48,000 filaments per tow. This material is essential for the manufacturing of new-energy vehicles and aerospace components. By scaling production, the project aims to reduce the cost of high-performance materials needed for the transition to low-carbon transportation and industrial equipment.
