A government-commissioned study finds Singapore is well placed to become a regional hub for carbon services and trading. The report, published by the Singapore Economic Development Board, says the city-state's commodity trading and financial ecosystem, plus proximity to Southeast Asia's nature-based projects, could support services like carbon accounting, MRV, and credit trading. The study estimates a potential US$1.8 billion to US$5.6 billion in gross value added by 2050. Singapore already hosts over 70 companies in the carbon services sector, and demand is expected for skills in climate risk analysis and verification. The findings back Singapore's Green Plan 2030.
