Singapore EMA opens tender for 200-hectare energy infrastructure cluster on Pulau Tekong
businesstimes.com.sgSingapore's Energy Market Authority has launched a tender for a proposed energy infrastructure cluster on Pulau Tekong. The roughly 200-hectare site could host hydrogen-ready natural gas power plants, an LNG terminal, and other low-carbon energy technologies. The consultant is expected to be selected by mid-2027, with the study lasting about two years. Tender submissions close on Dec 4, 2026. The move is part of broader planning for reclaimed land on Pulau Tekong, which will free up about 500 hectares for civilian use after the SAF receives new training space. The government is also studying undersea tunnels to connect the island to mainland Singapore. For carbon and energy markets, this is a signal that Singapore is making room for future power infrastructure, though the details on hydrogen supply and grid interconnection are still open questions.
