Singapore and Indonesia signed 18 agreements at their annual Leaders' Retreat in Jakarta, covering carbon credits, defence, and energy cooperation. The carbon credit MOU commits both countries to work on high-integrity carbon markets aligned with the Paris Agreement, with a focus on projects that support local and indigenous communities in Indonesia through job creation and environmental protection. Singapore has committed to reducing emissions to 45-50 million tonnes of CO2 by 2035. The agreements also include supply chain resilience measures, with both countries reaffirming support for freedom of navigation in key straits and working to strengthen intra-Asean trade. Defence cooperation includes co-development of training facilities in West Kalimantan. The 18 agreements were signed during the annual Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat in Jakarta, reflecting a deepening bilateral relationship ahead of 60 years of diplomatic ties in 2027.
