Sindh environmental experts urge public to adopt climate friendly behavior to reduce carbon footprint

Environmental experts in Hyderabad, Pakistan, are calling on the public to change daily habits to lower their carbon footprint. Speaking at a seminar organized by the Sindh Environment Protection Agency, officials noted that government bans on items like polythene bags have limited effect without individual action. The SEPA director general pointed to examples such as excessive pesticide use polluting waterways and the high water cost of manufacturing jeans, urging a return to nature based solutions. Sindh province generates about 2,000 megawatts from wind power out of a total need of 6,000 megawatts. Officials emphasized that tree planting, reduced electricity use, and lower personal carbon footprints are essential. The seminar also highlighted that Sindh faces unique flood risks compared to other provinces, adding urgency to climate adaptation efforts.
