Silverstone Partners with Certas Energy to Use HVO for F1 British Grand Prix Power
transportandenergy.comCertas Energy is supplying Silverstone with at least 250,000 litres of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to power generators at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix and other events. The renewable diesel alternative will run mobile kitchens, lighting, and stages, with estimated savings of around 645 tonnes of CO2e compared to standard diesel. Silverstone has used Certas Energy HVO for three years, with combined savings of up to 1,549 tonnes of CO2e across that period. The switch is part of the circuit's Shift to Zero initiative and supports F1's net zero by 2030 goal. HVO is a drop-in fuel made from waste and residue feedstocks that can cut carbon emissions by up to 90% versus diesel.
