SiC Systems and CarbonLume Partner to Apply AI to Methane-to-Hydrogen and Carbon Nanotube Plant Design
hydrogen-central.comSiC Systems and CarbonLume have signed a teaming agreement to use multi-agent AI to speed up the engineering and design of first-of-a-kind plants that convert methane into clean hydrogen and carbon nanotubes. The process uses a light-driven, single-step reaction that produces two revenue streams from one reactor pass, avoiding the need for steam methane reforming and its associated emissions. By applying physics-informed AI agents to flowsheet synthesis, reactor sizing, and techno-economic analysis, the companies aim to cut engineering hours and capital costs, shortening the path to commercial deployment. The collaboration targets industrial customers in hydrogen, advanced materials, and industrial gas who are looking for lower-carbon production routes. This could lower the barrier for decarbonized methane conversion and make low-carbon hydrogen and high-value carbon materials more economically viable.
