Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, through its subsidiary Shyam Sel and Power Limited, commissioned an 8.90 MWp solar plant at Jamuria, West Bengal, on July 28, 2026. The project uses a blended model: 4.60 MWp under CAPEX and 4.30 MWp under OPEX. This hybrid approach reduces upfront capital while still lowering the company's energy costs and carbon footprint. The plant will supply clean power to Shyam Metalics' manufacturing operations, cutting reliance on grid electricity and fossil fuels. The CAPEX portion adds to the company's asset base, while the OPEX portion avoids maintenance risk. This structure is common in Indian industrial renewables, allowing companies to scale solar without full balance sheet strain. For investors tracking industrial decarbonization, this project shows how metal producers are adopting solar to manage both costs and emissions. The mixed ownership model may become more common as companies balance capex discipline with renewable targets.
