The Shenzhou-23 crew on China's Tiangong space station has installed the Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory (MUSICO), the station's first spaceborne greenhouse gas detector. The device will monitor carbon dioxide and methane over key regions to support global emissions tracking and climate research. This is a practical step in using orbital sensors to improve the data available for carbon accounting and climate models, which could eventually feed into carbon market verification and policy decisions.
