Shell Triple 10 EV concept cuts lifecycle carbon to 10 tonnes with immersion cooling fluid
autoblog.comShell unveiled the Triple 10 EV concept that achieves 10 km/kWh efficiency, charges from 10 to 80 percent in under 10 minutes on a standard 175 kW charger, and has a lifecycle carbon footprint of about 10 tonnes of CO2. That is roughly half the carbon of a typical EV today. The key is Shell Recharge, a dielectric thermal fluid that immerses battery cells and powertrain components directly, replacing conventional water-glycol cooling systems. This approach eliminates hotspots, simplifies vehicle architecture, and can reduce battery pack costs by roughly 25 percent. The concept uses a battery of about 34 to 38 kWh yet delivers over 200 miles of real world range. Shell is not planning to produce the car itself. The Triple 10 is a demonstration meant to convince automakers to adopt its thermal fluid technology. If adopted widely, it could enable lighter, cheaper, and more efficient EVs while cutting manufacturing emissions tied to larger battery packs.
