Shelbyville Council Delays Carbon Sequestration Annexation and Parks Property Purchase
addisontimes.substack.comAn Indiana city council postponed a vote on annexing roughly 97 acres for a carbon capture and storage project tied to DTE Vantage and POET. The project would capture CO2 from ethanol fermentation and inject it underground, but the article notes injection still requires EPA Class VI permits. The annexation and zoning decision moved to Oct. 19 because only four of seven council members were present and one had recused. The same meeting tabled a proposed $550,000 purchase of property near Sunrise Park after a council member questioned the price. The property would provide parking and storage for youth baseball and softball events. Both items are set to return at the Oct. 19 council meeting.
