The Mianchuan project sounds decent on paper, but I want to see the actual capacity factor for those low-wind turbines. Integrating storage is the only way this works for a resident population, but the cost per kWh for a microgrid this size is usually high. Who is subsidizing the O&M?

Shanghai Electric is pushing a lot of these localized green claims. The 240,000 tonnes of CO2 reduction is a concrete number, which is better than most corporate fluff, but the Sarawak transmission line part is just basic compliance. No wildlife casualties is the bare minimum for a 500-kV line.

The mention of 500 local jobs for a wind project is interesting. Usually, the bulk of the labor is for construction and then it drops off. I wonder how many of those are permanent technical roles for maintaining the turbines and storage systems.
