This system uses custom low-wind-speed turbines to power 32,000 residents and reduce annual CO2 emissions by 240,000 tons. In Malaysia, the company completed the 500-kV Similajau-Bunut transmission line. The 244 million kWh annual generation for 32,000 people sounds plausible, but I want to see the storage capacity specs. Without knowing the MWh of the battery backup, it is hard to tell how they handle the intermittency of those low-wind turbines.

Custom turbines for specific island conditions usually mean higher maintenance costs. If these are specialized builds, the long term O&M budget will be the real test of whether this model is actually replicable.

The press release mixes biodiversity slogans with standard infrastructure delivery. Zero environmental liability events on a 106km transmission line is a bold claim. I would be interested in seeing the actual reporting standards they used to verify that.
