Students and researchers have developed a temporary pavilion using seaweed-based materials to reduce the carbon footprint of construction. The project features 3D-printed seaweed joints, seaweed-based concrete foundations, and breathable seaweed panels, all designed for disassembly and composting. This experimental structure demonstrates how biomaterials can replace high-emission construction components. By utilizing the rapid growth of seaweed, the project aims to lower embodied carbon in urban architecture and test the scalability of seaweed-based PLA and concrete.
