Searcys Cuts Carbon Intensity 3.3% With Lower-Carbon Conference Menus and Food Waste Program
squaremeal.co.ukEvents caterer Searcys has reported a 3.3% cut in carbon intensity for 2025, part of its Second Nature sustainability strategy. The company says more than 99% of its emissions come from Scope 3 supply chain sources, so the focus is on ingredients and sourcing. It launched a lower-carbon conference menu range called Nourish, and is swapping higher-carbon beef and lamb for options like wild venison and duck. Searcys also expanded its food waste work through a partnership with OLIO, donating 162kg of surplus food in a trial, and is rolling the scheme out across its venues. On sourcing, 76% of seafood met agreed standards, and 94% of eggs and 75% of milk were higher welfare. The company is working toward a Net Zero 2040 commitment under parent WSH Group. For event planners, the visible change is on the plate, but the bigger question is whether suppliers can deliver the same standards at scale. Searcys plans to expand the Nourish range and use more regenerative agriculture products next.
