Scout Clean Energy and Oracle Sign VPPA for 300 MW Texas Wind Farm
renewableenergymagazine.comScout Clean Energy has signed a virtual power purchase agreement with Oracle covering most of the output from the 300 MW Ranchero Wind Farm in Crockett County, Texas. The wind farm has been operating since 2019 and is Scout's largest operating project. Under the VPPA, Oracle will match a portion of its Texas data center electricity use with carbon-free wind generation, part of the company's goal to cover 100 percent of its custom AI data center load with carbon-free power by 2035. Ranchero generates enough electricity each year to supply roughly 177,000 homes and is expected to contribute more than $57 million in property taxes to Crockett County over its lifetime. The deal is one piece of Oracle's announced investment in over 1.7 GW of Texas renewable energy projects. For Scout, the contract adds a long-term revenue stream to an existing asset, a common structure in the current corporate PPA market.
