Scottsdale Water is converting the PG-41 groundwater monitoring well on Cattletrack Road into a production well for the city's drinking water system. The project sits within the North Indian Bend Wash Superfund site, and the responsible parties tied to that site are covering construction costs, not Scottsdale taxpayers. Water from the converted well will be treated at the nearby granular activated carbon facility before being blended at the Chaparral Water Treatment Facility. The conversion is one of six groundwater well projects Scottsdale is working on to diversify supply and cut reliance on the Colorado River. It also helps control contaminated groundwater movement from the Superfund site, protecting nearby wells. Construction starts in early November 2026 and should take three to six months. Local residents may see equipment and hear periodic noise during that window.
