Scotland Launches Consultation for New Peatland Restoration Standard
heraldscotland.comNatureScot and the Scottish Government are developing the first industry standard for peatland restoration. The initiative aims to provide technical guidance and legal clarity for land managers to turn degraded peatlands from carbon sources back into carbon sinks. This standard will establish consistent quality and practice requirements across Scotland's two million hectares of peatlands. The consultation is open to practitioners, funders, and researchers until August 2026, with the final standard expected in December 2026.
