Schroders Greencoat has acquired APF Energy, a Dutch biomethane platform that converts agricultural manure and food waste into renewable natural gas. The platform includes six assets, with three currently operational and three under construction, aimed at decarbonizing heavy industry and road transport. By utilizing existing gas grid infrastructure, this move allows for a direct substitute for fossil fuels in the Netherlands. This strategy targets hard to abate sectors where wind and solar are less practical, while also addressing nitrate challenges in the Dutch livestock industry.
