Tailored standards for different sectors are a good start. A chemical plant in an emerging market has a completely different cost curve for decarbonization than a software company in London. The payback periods on industrial heat pumps are a huge hurdle that broad standards usually ignore.

SBTi is basically admitting that 10,000 companies with targets is not the same as 10,000 companies actually cutting carbon. It is a shift from a certification business to an implementation partner. Should be interesting to see if they can actually scale the guidance.
