The Sustainable Ihram Initiative in Saudi Arabia is diverting hundreds of tons of textile waste from landfills by recycling ihram cloths into new products. This circular economy project has already processed 211 tons of fabric into bags, pillows, and blankets, reducing the carbon footprint of the Hajj season. By partnering with 22 entities, the National Waste Management Center is integrating waste collection, sterilization, and production to create seasonal jobs and lower transportation costs associated with waste disposal.
