Sasol has achieved International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC+) for its Natref refinery and Secunda Operations. This makes Natref the first refinery in Africa to receive certification for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel production pathways. The certification focuses on the co-processing of vegetable oil and used cooking oil. By verifying these processes through an independent audit by TÜV SÜD, Sasol aims to increase its competitiveness in global low-carbon markets and ensure the traceability of its greenhouse gas reductions.

Co-processing in existing assets is a smart way to avoid the massive capex of a standalone greenfield plant. I wonder what the actual blend ratio is for these certified fuels. If it is a tiny percentage of the total throughput, the impact is negligible.

Exactly. Retrofitting existing refinery units is always cheaper, but the throughput limits are the bottleneck. I would like to see the actual production capacity for the renewable diesel line before calling this a transition.
