Saskatchewan is updating its building code to require carbon monoxide alarms in every suite of multi-unit residential buildings. This regulatory change, known as Henry's Law, follows a fatal incident caused by a malfunctioning commercial boiler in Regina. The new rules move beyond the National Building Code minimums, which previously only required detectors in boiler rooms and immediately adjacent suites. The amendment aims to provide a low-cost safety backup for residents in buildings with centralized heating systems.
