Sarawak is developing the Kuching Low-Carbon Hub (KLCH) in Tanjung Embang, a planned green growth zone anchored by a new international airport and deep-sea port. The hub will use natural gas from western Sarawak to supply lower-carbon energy for advanced manufacturing, food processing, digital economy, and circular economy industries. Partnerships with China Jiangsu International and Sumitomo Corp have already been established, with interest also coming from European investors. Physical development is expected to start in 2027 under a public-private partnership model. The master plan also includes a 405-hectare AI data campus with dedicated energy and water supplies. The new airport will initially handle 15 million passengers per year, scalable to 60 million, while the deep-sea port will complement existing hubs at Bintulu and Samalaju. The state is also working on a Sarawak AI Blueprint and roadmap toward 2030.
