Sangster Airport reaches Level 3 carbon accreditation for emission reductions across airport operations

Sangster International Airport in Jamaica has been upgraded to Level 3 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, a global standard for managing and reducing carbon emissions at airports. The certification, awarded by Airports Council International, requires airports to not only cut their own emissions but also coordinate with airlines, ground handlers, and other partners on site to lower the overall carbon footprint of the airport ecosystem. MBJ Airports Limited, which operates Sangster, says the milestone reflects years of work embedding sustainability into planning and operations. The airport also holds ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. The Level 3 upgrade places Sangster among a smaller group of airports worldwide that are actively managing emissions across their full operational network, a shift from single-operator efforts to shared, measurable climate action.
