Samsung and LG push heat pump boilers at Busan climate expo as Korea electrifies home heating
digitaltoday.co.krAt the 2026 Climate Industry International Expo in Busan, Samsung and LG both centered their booths on heat pump boilers, a sign that heating electrification is becoming a mainstream consumer market in South Korea. Samsung showed its EHS All-in-One unit, which combines cooling, heating, and hot water in one outdoor unit, alongside AI data center cooling and commercial HVAC systems. LG highlighted its Therma V heat pump boiler and claimed energy cost reductions of 40 to 60 percent versus fossil fuel boilers. The expo comes as Korea's government pushes a heating electrification rollout program, which is expected to drive demand for appliances that replace gas boilers with electric heat pumps. Both companies also used the event to show efficiency features in home appliances, from AI-based energy saving modes to lower standby power and e-paper displays. For buyers, the key question is whether installation costs, grid capacity, and real-world performance match the marketing numbers.
