Indiana-based Sagepoint Logistics has added 60 renewable natural gas trucks, bringing its low-carbon fleet to 120 vehicles. The trucks run on Cummins X15N engines and use RNG produced by parent company Sagepoint Energy's waste-to-energy facilities. That vertical setup gives the carrier control over fuel supply and pricing, which it says helps customers avoid diesel price swings and gives shippers a cleaner option when reporting Scope 3 emissions. The company plans to use the expanded fleet to serve more dedicated truckload customers across the US and enter new markets. It also expects to add driver jobs. Missing from the announcement are details on the waste feedstocks behind the RNG and any certification or carbon intensity data. Those details matter for verifying how much the switch actually cuts emissions.
