SABIC introduced its first post-consumer recycled carbon fiber reinforced compound, the LNP Elcrin DC0051RC1. The material contains 75% recycled content and achieves a UL94 V0 flame retardancy rating at 0.8mm thickness. It is designed for laptop housings and large structural components in consumer electronics, offering dimensional stability and low warpage. The compound uses non-chlorinated, non-brominated flame retardant chemistry to reduce health and environmental risks. SABIC also rolled out other PCR based materials in March 2026 for automotive and ADAS applications. This development shows how advanced formulation can balance recycled content with performance requirements in demanding electronics applications.
